The biennial Rolex Fastnet Race is the highlight of the RORC (Royal Ocean Racing Club) race calendar. As notorious for the unpredictable tidal and weather conditions as for the beauty of the scenery it passes, the Rolex Fastnet Race is acknowledged as one of the world’s classic ocean races. The course takes the competitors from Cowes on the Isle of Wight, west along the south coast of England to Land’s End, across the often-tempestuous Celtic Sea to round the Fastnet Rock off the south western tip of Ireland, returning to finish off Plymouth.

The race attracts entries from all over the world. The 300 yachts on the start line for the 2009 event saw two from Clipper 60 entries for Clipper Events. Skill levels vary from seasoned ocean racers to novices, keen to learn. Clipper’s experience of training crew for the Clipper Round the World Yacht Races ensures that our crews are safe and competitive from the outset.

The land and water-based sail training allows entrants to learn to work together as a team, to practice safety drills and race manoeuvres and get used to life on board.
