The J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race is one of the world’s most famous yacht races. It was first run in 1931 when there were just 25 yachts on the start line. Since then the popularity of the race has exploded with participants travelling from across the globe to take part in the race. In 2011 there was a record breaking 1,908 entries competing for the legendary Gold Roman Bowl. Among them were nine Clipper 68s, the same yachts which competed in the Clipper 11-12 Round the World Yacht Race.
The Clipper 68s and Clipper 70s start with the highly competitive Class 0 which includes record breaking sailors, professional teams and yachts fresh from races including the Vendee Globe and Volvo Ocean Race.
After crossing the historic Royal Yacht Squadron Line you will have a breathtaking view of the rest of the fleet as they wait for their starts with the sun climbing in the sky behind them. And, out at the head of the fleet on the south of the island, there’s another picture perfect moment in store as you look back to The Needles and watch as hundreds of yachts hoist a kaleidoscopic range of multi-coloured spinnakers.
The yachts create a huge visual impact on the start line, providing a perfect branding platform and lasting impression on clients or employees on board. Whether you’re using the event to get close to customers, build teams or train leaders, competing in the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race is an effective way of developing business relationships while enjoying an exhilarating and memorable day out of the office.
We offer a two day campaign, letting guests have a full day of training before an early night and accomadation on board the yachts in Cowes. This iconic race starts at sunrise from the Squadron Line on 1 June 2013, racing West from en route to the Needles.
After the race you will have time to enjoy the race village and the atmosphere in Cowes.
Guests join the yachts for the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race on the 31 May, with the race on the 1 June.
