SIR ROBIN KNOX-JOHNSTON CBE RD
In April 1969, three months before Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston achieved another feat no-one thought possible. He became the first man to sail solo, non-stop around the world. To this day few sailors have managed to emulate his achievement. In 2007 he completed his second solo circumnavigation in the VELUX 5 OCEANS race and was acclaimed by The Times as the greatest yachtsman that ever lived. In 2009 he headlined in the BBC’s Top Dogs programme with explorer, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, and the BBC correspondent, John Simpson, teaching each other the tricks of their trade.
Gourmet Catering
There is nothing like a day on the water to work up a healthy appetite. At Clipper Events we believe that good quality, fresh food can only enhance your experience. All our food is sourced through a local delicatessen using fresh, seasonal produce from local growers.
Our breakfast, racing lunch and afternoon tea are included in the package. If you would like food to play a larger part in your sailing experience please contact us for our gourmet options.
Venues
Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth has a large selection of bars and restaurants making it the ideal location for meeting and greeting, presentations and evening prize-giving receptions. On sunny days the outside areas are ideal for a few cold beers – the perfect way to round off an exhilarating day on the water.
Clipper Events also has access to some of the premier venues on the south coast and Isle of Wight. Venue options include: The historic battleship, HMS Warrior and Spinnaker Tower.

Trophies
Why not give your teams something to strive for and mark a great day’s competition on the water with a trophy or memento. We work with the sole importer of Hoselton Sailing Sculptures which can be laser engraved and mounted on a plinth.
