The Velux 5 Oceans Race represents the ultimate solo challenge - racing around the world's oceans single-handed.
Founder of Clipper Ventures Plc, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, the first man to sail solo and non-stop around the world, completed his second solo circumnavigation in the 2006-2007 edition of the race. Frequently described as the maritime equivalent of scaling Everest, while over 15,000 people are estimated to have climbed Everest, over 163 have sailed around the world single-handed. The ultimate in human endeavour, only 90 people have so far completed this race.
